PITTSBURGH – The Allegheny County Department of Sustainability is kicking off a series of public meetings this October so residents can provide direct feedback on the County’s first Climate Action Plan and learn how the plan will shape the region’s future.

The meetings are accessible, family friendly, and free to attend. Translation services will be available at every session. In-person attendees will be offered food and onsite childcare. All attendees will be entered to win raffle prizes, such as tickets to cultural attractions, energy efficiency kits, and more.

The meeting schedule is as follows:

“We are building a Climate Action Plan that reflects the priorities and wisdom of the people who live here,” said County Executive Sara Innamorato. “Your input will shape how we reduce emissions, bolster sustainable economic opportunity, create good local jobs, and make our communities healthier and more resilient.”

During the first phase of the planning process, staff from the Department of Sustainability engaged more than 2,400 people across 80 community events and meetings.

The County has also completed energy audits for major County facilities, carried out greenhouse gas inventories for County operations and the wider county, and completed an operational assessment to increase efficiencies in government.

There will be three online surveys during the Climate Action Plan process. A new set of survey questions will go live in mid-October at AlleghenyCounty.us/ClimateActionPlan. Residents who cannot attend a meeting in person or virtually are encouraged to provide feedback online or at any upcoming community event.

If you need disability accommodations, interpretation in a language not listed, or assistance registering, please contact the Department of Sustainability at sustainability@alleghenycounty.us or call (412) 350-7018 at least five business days before the event.
