Voters to Begin Receiving Ballots in the Mail this Week

Published on October 06, 2025

PITTSBURGH – Now that all outstanding candidate challenges regarding ballot access for next month’s general election have been resolved, the Allegheny County Elections Division announced today that ballots will be available for voting “over the counter” at the Allegheny County Office Building at 542 Forbes Ave. downtown starting Wednesday, October 9. Voters who have requested a mail-in ballot will begin to receive them in the mail later this week and this weekend.

Voters are reminded that October 20 is the last day to register to vote or update voter registration prior to the November 4 general election.

Allegheny County’s satellite office and ballot return sites serve the same functionality as they did in the 2024 elections and the primary election in the spring of 2025. Satellite offices are locations that voters can request a mail-in ballot, vote it on the spot (or take it home) and return it to elections division staff on site – functionally known as “over the counter voting.”

Ballot Return Sites are open the final few days before election day (after the deadline to request a mail-in ballot has passed) and only serve the function of being a place where a voter can hand a mail-in ballot to an elections division employee. This is an important service for voters, as relying on mail service to deliver a mail-in ballot back to the elections division that close to Election Day is not recommended.

For the 2025 Municipal General Election the following satellite locations will be in operation on Saturday and Sunday, October 25th and 26th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
