Penn Avenue Extension in Wilkins and Turtle Creek Reopens to Traffic

PITTSBURGH – The Department of Public Works announced today that Penn Avenue Extension between Aliquippa Street and the Tri-Boro Expressway (Route 130) in Wilkins and Turtle Creek has reopened to traffic earlier than expected. The closure, which began on July 7, 2025, was required for construction of a retaining wall, pavement and sidewalk reconstruction, utility work, and guide rail replacement near Aliquippa Street.
Penn Avenue Extension is used by an average of 3,938 drivers daily.
A. Merante Contracting of West Mifflin was the primary construction contractor for the $463,000 project.
