Sculpture Garden

Hartwood Acres Park Sculpture Path

Unique to Hartwood Acres Park is the sculpture garden, which first opened in the 1980s. Through the conservation efforts of Allegheny County and the Parks Foundation to preserve the artwork after years of exposure to the elements, the reimagined garden opened in 2022 as the Carol R. Brown Sculpture Garden. Brown, a member of the Allegheny County Parks Foundation, was such an integral advocate of the original installation project and the restoration efforts that sculpture garden was renamed in recognition of those contributions.

The redesign of the sculpture garden focused on green building and landscape principles while developing a cohesive art exhibit for all to enjoy. The 14 sculptures are set along an ADA-accessible walkway, with most located near the Mansion, two near the park’s entrance off Saxonburg Boulevard, and one located off Middle Road by the Hartwood Acres amphitheater. A self-guided audio tour (with transcript) is available for park visitors and can be started at any point throughout the garden path.
