Allegheny County Health Department is doing its part to help kids catch up on their vaccination schedules!

Routine childhood vaccinations protect against serious diseases such as measles and whooping cough. The ACHD encourages parents to make sure children are up to date on their vaccinations. Make an appointment today, with your child’s doctor, at any Federally Qualified Health Center or at the ACHD’s Immunization Clinic (425 First Avenue in downtown Pittsburgh).

To schedule an appointment, call 412-578-8062. Appointments are preferred and are given priority. Walk-ins are also accepted. Parents are reminded to bring ID and a copy of their child’s vaccination records.

Clinic Services

Adult Services

Provides a range of adult immunizations, including influenza and pneumococcal vaccines. Please note: A prescription or letter of recommendation from a private physician is required for persons aged 27-45 who wish to receive the HPV vaccine. As of April 2022, ACIP recommends that all adults ages 19-59 be vaccinated against Hepatitis B. Vaccination is also recommended for adults 60 and over with risk factors for hepatitis B or without identified risk factors but seeking protection.

Childhood Immunizations

Federally funded and administered free of charge to eligible children. Additionally, Compliance with Allegheny County and Pennsylvania School Immunization Laws is assured through regular audits of school health records.

Travel Immunizations and/or Consultations

In addition to CDC recommended vaccines for adults and children in the U.S., we carry most vaccines required/recommended for overseas travel including, but not limited to, yellow fever vaccine, typhoid vaccine, and rabies vaccine (for pre-exposure only). We do not carry Japanese Encephalitis vaccine or cholera vaccine but can refer you to a partner if recommended.

In order to receive the above listed vaccines you will must have an in person travel consultation with a nurse. Appointments can be made for travel consultations Monday through Friday from 9 am to 3 pm only. The fee for a travel consultation is $20.00. Travel consults are provided in-person only — not via email/phone. Malaria medication recommendations are made during a travel consult; however, malaria medications must be requested through your personal healthcare provider.

Blood testing to determine antibody levels for diseases.

Payment Information

Vaccination fees may be paid by cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or American Express. A fee will be charged for credit or debit card use. Prices for services are subject to change. Effective 6/13/2019, the health department no longer accepts personal checks.

We are now able to accept most insurance coverage; please see the Accepted Insurance List(PDF, 1MB) to make sure your insurer is included. We are not able to accept health savings account or flexible spending account funds.

Note: If you intend to pay for services in cash or money order, please pay only the exact amount due. Change is not provided. Also, if using a debit/credit card an additional bank fee is charged.
