About

Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS) provides publicly funded social services for people in all of Allegheny County. Our mission is to support people during their most vulnerable times by preventing crises in their lives and providing services.

DHS is the largest human services funder in our region, serving more than 200,000 residents each year mostly through community-based agencies. Some of our services include mental health, children and youth, family strengthening, housing, and support for older adults.

The goals we have set to guide us and our partners include working to improve access to care, reducing overuse of coercive services, preventing harm, increasing economic security and ensuring quality. We are devoted to initiatives that will make our systems work better for everyone we serve.
