Code Red Information - Cooling Centers

A Code Red Heat Advisory is issued when extreme heat poses a serious risk to your health - especially for older adults, children, and people with medical conditions.

A Code Red Advisory will be in effect from Sunday, June 22 to Friday, June 27. Additional dates may be announced.

DHS will be offering additional overnight shelter capacity at Second Avenue Commons from 7 pm - 7 am on the evening of Thursday, June 26, when the forecast projects insufficient overnight cooling. Additional dates may be announced. Adults in need of shelter should go to Second Avenue Commons.

Senior Centers

If you are an older adult without transportation to a cooling center, call SeniorLine during business hours to get connected to help: 412-350-5460. Outside of business hours, call 2-1-1, or in an emergency, 9-1-1. 

When our senior centers are acting as cooling centers, they welcome residents of any age.
