He Ain't Nothin' But a Hound Dog

We aren’t sure if he’s ever caught a rabbit, but he’s certainly becoming a friend of ours.

Meet Toby, a hound mix who became the first 2026 canine participant in the TAILS program after arriving at the Allegheny County Jail on Friday, Jan. 9.

Toby, who is approximately three-to-four years old, is a medium-sized brown and white male who weighs around 50 pounds. He is described as a “very sweet” dog who is laidback and loves to cuddle.

He joins Princess Leia, who is still at the jail after arriving in November. Five dogs have been adopted through the TAILS program since it began last year, with Zeus finding his forever home last month.

If you’re interested in adopting dogs in the TAILS program, visit the Animal Friends adoption page at Adopt a Dog.
