Filing and Refunds
Bond money can be accepted for the immediate release of a defendant after he/she has been arraigned and processed. If the defendant appears for trial and the case is completed, a check for the bail money, minus the initial filing fee and a processing fee is mailed to the individual (surety) who posted the bond.
Bond Counter
The Bond Counter is located at 114 Allegheny County Courthouse. Counter services are available 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday - Friday.
There is a $50.00 filing fee for all bonds and only cash, money orders and cashier’s checks in the exact amount can be accepted.
Additionally, all bonds posted from 4:30pm – 8:30am weekdays, and on all weekends and holidays, can be completed at the Municipal Courts Building, 660 First Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219
Bond Refunds
Bond refunds are made by check only and are sent through the mail.
If the address of the person or entity who posted a bond changes during the period of time between the bond being posted and the case which is being completed, the person or the entity named on the bond must notify the bond counter and change his/her address by showing a valid driver’s license or other proper identification.
