Ballot Return Sites
Allegheny County will host ballot return sites for the Primary Election on May 20, 2025. Ballot return sites are staffed locations where registered voters who received a mail-in or absentee ballot can return ballots in person, directly to a county employee.
For the 2025 Primary Election, Allegheny County also offered satellite voting locations to provide a more comprehensive range of services for voters. At satellite locations, registered voters can request a mail-in ballot, complete and return it, all in one place (commonly referred to “over-the-counter” voting). The deadline for registered voters to request a mail-in or absentee ballot was May 13, 2025. Once the deadline to apply for a mail-in or absentee ballot has passed, voters may only return ballots; they can no longer request one on-site.
The County Office Building will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm for over-the-counter voting and ballot return services leading up to the Primary Election, including on Election Day from 7:00 am - 8:00 pm.
Voters may only return their own ballot unless they have completed authorization forms to return a ballot on behalf of someone who physically is unable to do so. For individuals requiring assistance in voting or returning a ballot, contact the Elections Division at 412-350-4500.
