Overview

General Information

We provide workers compensation benefits to employees who are injured or become ill as a direct result of performing their jobs. Workers Compensation benefits consist of two types: pro-rated wage reimbursement and payment for medical treatment. The program covers reasonable and necessary medical expenses that result from an occupational injury or illness.

Applicable Law

The law governing workers compensation benefits is set forth in the Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Act, regulated by the Department of Labor and Industry, PA Bureau of Workers Compensation. To learn more about the Workers Compensation Act, visit the PA Dept. of Labor and Industry website or call the toll-free helpline at 800-482-2383.

Lost wages are paid at 66.6% of the employee's average weekly wage up to the maximum weekly benefits established by the Commonwealth. Correctional Officers, Police and Sheriffs may receive full salary benefits under the Second Class County Code.

Health Care Provider Panel

Injured employees treat with Panel Providers for the first 90 days following injury. The health care Panel Providers(PDF, 226KB) are affiliated with fully-staffed medical clinics who can respond to the majority of work-related injuries. Providers are located near major County worksites. Most offer extended hours (7:00 am - 7:00 pm) and offer free or discounted parking.

Employees may switch among any of the Panel Providers(PDF, 226KB) while receiving treatment. If a provider recommends surgery, the employee has the right to a second opinion from any provider of their choice.

For any current workers’ compensation claimant that is treating with Concentra or for any new work related injury, Concentra Medical Center temporarily is offering telemed as an alternative to their current scheduled appts or for new claimants. View instructions on how to use Concentra Telemed(PDF, 397KB).
