Inspector Kenneth Ruckel

Inspector Kenneth Ruckel has served with the Allegheny County Police Department since 1997. He is currently a Division Commander overseeing Patrol and Administration.

Inspector Ruckel began his career as a patrol officer at Pittsburgh International Airport where he served until 2001 when he was later transferred to General Investigations as a Detective. After five years in General Investigations, he was transferred to the Homicide Unit where he served for seven years. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2013 and served within the uniform districts until being transferred back to the Investigations Division as a supervisor in General Investigations and Homicide Units. In 2019, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and served as the Homicide Unit Commander until being promoted to Inspector in January 2020.  In January 2024, he assumed command of the Patrol Division and Administration.  In addition to his regular duties, he served on the SWAT Team for over 12 years.

Inspector Ruckel holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from La Roche College and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Session 282.
