REMINDER: Penn Avenue Extension to Close Starting on Monday

The Department of Public Works announced that Penn Avenue Extension in Wilkins and Turtle Creek will close between Aliquippa Street and the Tri-Boro Expressway (Route 130) starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 7, 2025. The closure is expected to end in October 2025. It is required for construction of a retaining wall, pavement and sidewalk reconstruction, utility work, and more near Aliquippa Street.

Public Works Closes Bridge that Carries Jacks Run Road in Ross

The Department of Public Works announced today that it has closed Jacks Run Road Bridge No. 3, which carries Jacks Run Road over I-279 between Bellevue Road/Bellpark Drive and Kane Lane in Ross. During an inspection, inspectors found corroded steel within the bridge’s only pier. Public Works does not yet have a timetable for when the bridge will reopen.

COURTESY RELEASE: Two Sister Bridges To Close Next Week For Event

The Department of Public Works announced today that it has granted permits to the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership (PDP) and Flyspace Productions to close the Roberto Clemente (6th Street) Bridge from 9 a.m. on Monday, July 7 to 4 p.m. on Monday, July 14 and the Andy Warhol (7th Street) Bridge from 9 a.m. on Monday, July 7 to 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 15. The closures are needed for Picklesburgh.

County Executive Joins Glassport Community to Unveil New Public Art

This weekend County Executive Sara Innamorato celebrated the ribbon cutting for the new Glassport Gateway signage. The vibrant glass mosaic brought to life by talented Pittsburgh artists Sarah Cohen and Gwen Sadler, an alumna of Alloy Pittsburgh and a regular contributor to Rivers of Steel’s Metal Arts program. This piece was inspired by a design from Glassport artist Christopher Galiyas.

COURTESY RELEASE: Roberto Clemente Bridge to Close During Sunday

The Department of Public Works announced today that it has granted a permit to the Epilepsy Association of Western and Central PA to close the Roberto Clemente (Sixth Street) Bridge in Pittsburgh from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2025, for the Pittsburgh Family Fun Run/Walk for Epilepsy.

Rachel Carson Bridge in Pittsburgh to Close June 16-20 and June 23-27

The Department of Public Works announced today that the Rachel Carson (Ninth Street) Bridge in Pittsburgh will close from 6 a.m. on Monday, June 16 to 3 p.m. on Friday, June 20 and from 6 a.m. on Monday, June 23 to 3 p.m. on Friday, June 27. The closures are required for crews to safely conduct routine inspection activities.
