Master Plan

Introduction

The Allegheny County regional park system spans 12,000 acres of park land in nine parks, ranging from 500 - 3,000 acres in size and known for its rich natural, cultural, and recreational resources. The Comprehensive Parks Master Plan addresses the need for a financially sustainable park system with a long-term strategy that strikes a balance between development and preservation.

The Comprehensive Master Plan effort began in February 2000 and relied heavily on input from the residents of Allegheny County. The final plan was completed in 2002.
