Sexual Health Assessment

Sexually transmitted infections (sometimes called an "STD" or "STI") have been increasing at significant rates over the past decade. If left untreated, STIs can lead to serious health consequences. Chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis are also associated with increased risk of HIV transmission.

Think through the questions below to see if talking with a sexual health navigator about HIV prevention options might be right for you.

In the last 6 months did you:

  • Have sex with more than one person?
  • Have sex while drunk or high?
  • Have sex without condoms with a person whose HIV status you didn't know?
  • Have a sexually transmitted infection (an "STD") such as gonorrhea, syphilis, or chlamydia?
  • Have sex for something you needed (such as housing, money, drugs)?

In the past 6 months, have you had a sexual partner who:

  • Refused to wear condoms?
  • Has hurt you physically or made you have sex when you did not want to?
  • Had sex with anyone besides you?
  • Used drugs?
  • Is a man who has sex with other men?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, a sexual health navigator can help discuss HIV prevention options that might be right for you. Our navigators can assist you with PrEP referrals, health education, sexual health goals, risk reduction, condom negotiation, and linkage to social services such as health insurance, therapy, food banks and more.
