Communicable diseases must be reported to the ACHD as specified in Pennsylvania’s Disease Control and Prevention Act of 1955. Public health officials use reports to identify disease clusters, determine at-risk populations, assess burden of disease, monitor trends, and recommend measures to stop disease transmission.
