Human Services Involvement

The Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS) compiled 2013 data to show the number of individuals who received specific services tracked through DHS data applications and administered by the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, the PA Department of Human Services, the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh and/or the Allegheny County Housing Authority.

These data do not include the thousands of citizens who regularly benefit from other, but un-tracked, DHS programs and services.

These data are compiled as info-graphics (PDF) and organized according to the various federal, state and local legislative districts of each geographical area.

How to Access Data for a Particular Legislative District

Determine which legislative entity you have an interest in

• U.S. House of Representatives districts in Allegheny County
• PA House of Representatives districts in Allegheny County
• PA Senate districts in Allegheny County
• Pittsburgh City Council districts

Determine the number of the district you are interested in for that legislative entity

• Search by municipality
• Search by address/zip code

Open the Human Services Involvement graphic (PDF) pertaining to your selected legislative district

• Select and click on the blue bar that pertains to that legislative entity to open the related interactive map.
  • Left-click on the interactive map in the area of the district you are interested in to open a window and click on “Download PDF”
    or
  • Scroll below the map to the set of columns. Find your district of interested in the left column, click on the adjacent link in the “Download PDF” column.
• Or Find and click on the number of the district in which you are interested on the table below the blue bar of the legislative entity in question.

Overview of All Districts

The link embedded in the blue block below will open a file that contains all four of the maps above and their accompanying tables. You can get to each map by clicking on the appropriate file tab above the table.

On the map, roll over and click on the district you are interested in. When the pop-up appears, click on the "Download PDF" link. This will cause the PDF of human services involvement in that district to open.

To find the different districts that overlap in that area, click through the forward/backward arrows on the top, right side of the pop-up.
