Hartwood Acres Park

Hartwood Acres Park is easily the most unique and scenic park in Allegheny County. Originally designed as a county estate for an equestrian family, Hartwood Acres Park embodies its magnificent past over 629 acres in the Hampton and Indiana Townships. The park features a Tudor mansion built in 1929 by Alfred Hopkins for John and Mary Flinn Lawrence.

The grounds surrounding Hartwood Acres Mansion - including the manicured Terrace, glass-covered Grand Pavilion, and elegant Formal Garden - are available for private rentals from May through October. Additionally, The Stables at Hartwood Acres Park, reminiscent of an English Cotswold Village that once boarded Mary Flinn Lawrence’s horses, consists of courtyards, stalls, and open green space that provides the perfect combination for an indoor and outdoor event space.

Along with mansion tours and three-course high teas, visitors may stroll through the gardens or enjoy a free summer concert at the amphitheater. Other amenities include an off-leash dog park, sculpture garden, wooded trails for cross-country skiing, walking, hiking, and horseback riding, and a beautiful meadow.
