Infectious Disease Immunization Program

The Allegheny County Health Department's Infectious Disease Immunization Program provides vaccinations for both children and adults, including flu shots and travel vaccines.

Looking to get vaccinated? The Immunization Clinic page provides information about our immunization clinic, including the services we offer, location, and hours of operation.

Other Services Offered by the Immunization Program

Public Health Nursing

Our public health nurses maintain direct communication with infection control professionals and physicians across Allegheny County. We also offer consultations with school nurses and administrators to discuss infectious disease issues affecting children.

Public Health Education

Our program has a number of pamphlets and fact sheets on a variety of infectious disease-related issues. These materials are regularly updated and made available to the public, community organizations, and health care professionals. Speakers from our department are also available to provide informational programs on immunizations and communicable disease prevention.

Animal Bite Investigations and Zoonoses

We investigate animal bites to try and prevent transmission of diseases like rabies to humans and make recommendations for follow-up care as appropriate. Please see the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Reports and Publications page for more information.

Information about pre- and post-exposure rabies protocols and procedures are available for hospital emergency room personnel, physicians, and veterinarians. Please see our Infectious Diesease Resources for Health Care Professionals page for educational materials about rabies.

Infectious Disease Surveillance and Follow-Up
