Looking to get vaccinated? The Immunization Clinic page provides information about clinic services, location, and hours of operation.

Other Services Offered by the Immunization Program

Public Health Nursing

The public health nurses maintain direct communication with infection control professionals and physicians across Allegheny County. Consultations with school nurses and administrators are also available to discuss infectious disease issues affecting children.

Public Health Education

This program has a number of pamphlets and fact sheets on a variety of infectious disease-related issues. These materials are regularly updated and made available to the public, community organizations, and healthcare professionals. Speakers from the Allegheny County Health Department are also available to provide informational programs on immunizations and communicable disease prevention.

Animal Bite Investigations and Zoonoses

As a part of monitoring zoonoses - infectious diseases that are transmitted between species from animals to human - the ACHD investigates animal bites to prevent transmission of diseases like rabies to humans and make recommendations for follow-up care as appropriate. Please see the Disease Surveillance page for more information.

Information about pre- and post-exposure rabies protocols and procedures are available for hospital emergency room personnel, physicians, and veterinarians. Please see the Infectious Disease Resources for Health Care Professionals page for educational materials about rabies.
