Tablet Video Visitation Services

Incarcerated individuals and family members and friends are able to schedule video visits as of October 1, 2020. Video visitation hours are 9 am to 9 pm, seven days a week, pending operational status. For family members and friends to be added to an incarcerated individual’s contact list for video visits, they must create an account through GTL’s website.

Incarcerated individuals have the ability to initiate video visits on demand by choosing the “Visit Now” option. In order for family members and friends to accept an on-demand video visit, they must have the GTL Friends and Family “Visit Now” application on their smartphone or tablet. The app may be downloaded through the Apple iTunes Store or Google Play.

Video visits have a time limit of 30 minutes and cost $0.25 per minute.

Video visitation with friends and family members is monitored by Allegheny County Jail personnel. For those video visitors, screenshots and the recording of video visitation is strictly forbidden. Violators will lose permanent access to video visitation and be unable to access the system.

If you are having issues doing a video visit with an incarcerated individual at the Allegheny County Jail, download and install the browser Firefox and download and install Adobe Flash. Once that is complete, open Firefox and proceed to the visitation Web site as normal.

If an incarcerated individual is having problems conducting a phone call when dialing certain numbers, the called party is instructed to call 1-866-230-7761 to clear up this Universal Validation Service issue.

Tablet eBook Library

Incarcerated individuals at the Allegheny County Jail have access to a library of free eBooks on the tablets. These eBooks are available on a daily basis to incarcerated individuals on the housing units at no cost.
