Alternative Housing
The Allegheny County Jail works with the courts to allow placement of incarcerated individuals into facilities outside the jail.
Residents are assessed to determine their needs and provided with opportunities to prepare for successful reintegration into the community.
Procedures in Alternative Housing
- Assessment for drug, alcohol, medical and mental health issues and placed into treatment that meets their identified needs
- Life skills training (required)
- Employment placement programs to acquire sustainable employment (required)
- Individualized case management
- Family reunification
- Parenting classes
- Community service
- Post-release housing
