Professional Visits

Limited appointments for video visitation will be provided based upon availability. Last-minute requests for video visitation cannot be accommodated. Notice of at least 48 hours is required for all video visitation requests. If video visitation is not available, in-person visitation must be utilized.

Except for professional visitors who have a valid Bar Association Number, all professional visitors must obtain building clearances or both in-person and video visits. For instructions on how to obtain clearances, please call 412-350-5361.

Professional Video Visits

Allegheny County continues to provide a video visitation process using Zoom that allows professionals in specific fields to visit with their clients through their home computers and mobile devices. This process does not support social visits. It is for professional visits only. Professional visits include attorneys, public defenders, probation officials, medical and mental health professionals, pre-trial interviews and telepsychiatry. This list may also be expanded further based on need. Visits are scheduled in one-hour increments.

Fill out all information on the form to schedule your video visit. Each request will be for a single meeting with a single inmate, and you will be asked to provide your availability for up to three dates and/or times for scheduling purposes. Every reasonable effort will be made to honor your schedule request, but in the event of conflicts you will be contacted by staff to find an alternative date or time.

To verify attorney-client confidentiality during a call scheduled through the ACJ Video Arraignment Department, a “Legal Privacy Request Form” has been created and may be obtained by sending a request to the Courts along with a copy of the attorney’s license card. Attorneys should fill out that form and email it to the Jail as per the instructions to ensure their calls are not recorded.

Monday - Friday 8:30 am – 6:30 pm
No visits on Saturday.

Mobile Users

  1. Download Zoom through the app store.
  2. At the time of a scheduled visit, click the “Join Zoom Meeting” link in the email.
    1. The Zoom app will open
    2. Enter name and join meeting

PC Users

  1. Must have webcam, microphone, speakers, and internet connection
  2. Click the “Join Zoom” link in your email to open the meeting
  3. Your browser will open. If your dialogue box does not open, you should click "Launch Meeting”
  4. If prompted, enter the meeting ID and passcode provided in the meeting email
