County Offices Closed July 3 in Observance of Independence Day

All Allegheny County offices, including the independently elected offices, the Courts and County Council, will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2026, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Hartwood Acres Mansion also will be closed. All offices and parks facilities will return to regular hours on Monday, July 6, 2026.

The Department of Public Works announced today that it has granted a permit to the Pittsburgh Pirates to close the Roberto Clemente (Sixth Street) Bridge on Friday, July 3, 2026, for a Noah Kahan concert at PNC Park.

Part of Universal Road in Penn Hills to Close Starting on July 13

The Department of Public Works announced today that part of Universal Road near Hershey Road in Penn Hills will close starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026. The closure is expected to end in October. It is required for work on Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad Bridge No. 1, which carries Universal Road over Union Railroad tracks.

Traveling Glass Recycling

July 02, 2026

Glass bottles and jars are 100% recyclable and can be recycled for reuse endlessly without losing any quality! The traveling glass bin will be at each location for nearly a month, available daily from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. All colors of glass are accepted; containers must be empty; caps, lids, and labels are okay.
