Allegheny County Announces Latest Round of Opioid Settlement Funding

Allegheny County is awarding another $1.7 million in funding awards to community-based organizations working to address the opioid crisis. The awards represent the latest local disbursement of funding drawn from historic settlements with manufacturers and distributors of opioids for their roles in the opioid epidemic.

Fifth Annual International Overdose Awareness Day Resource Fair

The public is invited to attend this free, community-centered event from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Allegheny Commons Park on Cedar Avenue. The event will connect residents with more than 45 local health and social service providers while honoring people lost to overdose, recognizing those who have survived, and providing practical tools to combat the overdose epidemic.

Health Department Spraying Six Neighborhoods

The Allegheny County Health Department will be treating Hazelwood, Carrick, Mt. Oliver, Beltzhoover, Knoxville, and Mt. Washington for mosquitoes. Positive tests for West Nile Virus were recently found in those areas.

Traveling Glass Recycling

August 26, 2026

Glass bottles and jars are 100% recyclable and can be recycled for reuse endlessly without losing any quality! The traveling glass bin will be at each location for nearly a month, available daily from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. All colors of glass are accepted; containers must be empty; caps, lids, and labels are okay.
