East Smithfield Street in Elizabeth Township Reopens to Traffic

The Department of Public Works announced today that East Smithfield Street near Antonelli Drive in Elizabeth Township has reopened to traffic earlier than expected. The closure, which began on April 20, 2026, was required for repairs to a culvert named Youghiogheny Bridge No. 14. The project also included roadway repairs, drainage improvements, and more.

Health Department Paid Parental Leave Proposal

On Wednesday night at the Allegheny County Board of Health Meeting, the Allegheny County Health Department proposed an amendment to Article XXIV – Paid Sick and Parental Leave, to expand paid sick time and include paid parental leave for employees across Allegheny County. The Board of Health voted to move the proposal to public comment for the next 30 days.

Traveling Glass Recycling

May 15, 2026

Glass bottles and jars are 100% recyclable and can be recycled for reuse endlessly without losing any quality! The traveling glass bin will be at each location for nearly a month, available daily from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. All colors of glass are accepted; containers must be empty; caps, lids, and labels are okay.

Allegheny County Marbles Championship

Tournament winners from the Marbles Program are qualified to compete in the annual Allegheny County Marbles Tournament, for the chance to compete in the National Marbles Tournament in New Jersey.

Movies Under the Stars at South Park: Song Sung Blue

Movies Under the Stars is a delightful outdoor cinema experience where teens and adults can enjoy watching their favorite films on a large screen beneath the beautiful night sky in park settings. Guests are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks, and make themselves cozy as the sun begins to set.
