ACJ Announces Death of Incarcerated Individual

An incarcerated individual died in the Allegheny County Jail on the morning on February 1, 2026.

Statement from ACHD on US Steel’s Clairton Coke Works Breakdown

The Allegheny County Health Department received a call from U.S. Steel regarding a breakdown of pollution control equipment at Clairton Coke Works. A breakdown happens when equipment isn’t working properly and releases more pollution than normal. This can happen when equipment fails, during power outages, or other unexpected problems happen.

REMINDER: Public Meeting for Talbot Ave Ramp Project to Occur Tomorrow

The Allegheny County Department of Public Works, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) invite the public to attend a meeting to learn and provide input about an upcoming Talbot Avenue ramp replacement project in Rankin. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. tomorrow, January 28, 2026 at 419 Library Street, Braddock, PA 15104.

Community Counts Volunteer Night

Every January, community volunteers across the country participate in the annual effort to estimate the number of people experiencing homelessness on a single night. This year's count will now take place Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 9:00 pm to 2:00 am.
