What to Do on the Day of Your Hearing

2024 Hearings
The Board of Property Assessment Appeals and Review has made arrangements for all 2024 hearings to take place telephonically. Learn more about how the process works with the BPAAR Telephone Hearing Tip Sheet(PDF, 139KB) included with your scheduled hearing notice.

Prior to the Hearing

  • Ten days in advance - submit the evidence you would like to use to support your opinion of value during the hearing is sent to the Office of Property Assessments (OPA) - details are in the Telephone Hearing Tip Sheet(PDF, 232KB) you received with your notice.
  • Make sure the correct phone number is on file with OPA, since you will be called for your hearing. Valid phone numbers are required five days before the hearing date.
  • Hearings are conducted as close to the scheduled times as possible.
  • Other parties with a vested interest in the property may participate in the hearing, in addition to the appellant.

The Hearing

  • If the appellant (filing party) is not available for the call, the appeal is considered "Did Not Appear" and treated as a withdrawal.
  • Hearings typically last approximately 20 minutes.
  • Hearings are a matter of public record and proceedings may be subject to 'Right to Know' requests.
  • Additional Hearing Process(PDF, 116KB) information.
